Nintendo has announced a redesigned DS which it has named the Nintendo DS Lite. The handheld will have all the same features as the original DS, but it will be lighter in weight and size. Here are the official specs:

DS Lite: 133.0 x 73.9 x 21.5 mm

DS Lite: 218g
The new system will also come with four adjustable levels of screen brightness. The DS Lite was named for the lighter size and the adjustable screen lightness. The only other difference is the white body (at least in the photo, no official comment on color has been given by Nintendo) and that the microphone and batter power indicator have been relocated to the middle hinge between the two screens.
The handheld is set to release on March 2 in Japan for 16,800 yen ($145). No US or European release dates have been announced yet.
