Due to poor sales, movie production houses have decided to cut back on PSP-formatted movies.
Movie production houses were originally skeptical of the of the UMD format but the format proved successful at first. Many film studios had started to support the format, but recently many of these same studios are cutting back on UMD releases due to a lack of sales.
The studios have realized that comedies sell well in the format and so the first things to be cut will be action and horror movies.
Many believe that falling demand is due to piracy.
Sony has begun to push an adapter that would allow PSPs to play UMDs on televisions to counter the falling sales.
