EA Looking to Expand its Domination

None

As if EA didn’t already have enough of the market, they have now announced that they plan to release twenty-five games on Sprint and Verizon mobile phones. They are also working to acquire Superscape, the world’s leading publisher of mobile games, and want to buyout JAMDAT, a mobile content company that already offers more than seventy software applications to Cingular subscribers.

Cingular is the largest mobile network in the US. Verizon and Sprint are second and third. Verizon subscribers will have titles like Madden, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, FIFA, The Sims, Pogo.com games, Tri-Peaks Solitaire, Turbo 21, and Poppit. V Cast-enabled handsets will also be able to purchase a unique mobile version of Need for Speed Underground 2. Sprint has only announced Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 and Pogo.com games so fall, but twenty to twenty-five games are set to release by the end of the year.

The deal with Verizon and Sprint is predicted to be worth $25 million. Mere pocket change for EA.
