Kansas Suggests Violent Video Game Law

Kansas Suggests Violent Video Game Law

None

Kansas has proposed new video game legislation last week. Democrat Jim Ward has introduced the bill, part of the Kansas Democratic Party’s Partnership With Families initiative. The bill is being called the “Child Protection from Violent Video Games Act.” The law would make it a misdemeanor for retailers to distribute M and AO rated games to minors. A $1,000 fine would be the penalty for a first offense. A penalty of up to $2,500 could be given for subsequent convictions.

If the Kansas House and Senate pass the bill, it would be signed into law by Governor Kathleen Siblelius.
