We told you earlier that Nintendo is planning a remake of Super Mario Bros. for the DS to release on May 7. We have come up with some more information about the game that we would like to share with you.
Nintendo Power had the opportunity to talk to Takashi Tezuka, the Producer of the New Super Mario Bros.
“[After the original]…Mario evolved, of course, but it eventually became more difficult and suited more toward hard-core gamers,” he stated. “I didn’t want to continue in that direction. That’s not to say this game isn’t for hard-core players, but I want to recapture the spirit of the original Super Mario Bros.”
Tezuka also revealed that the game will include a number of new power-ups for players.
“One of the impressions I get is that all of the secrets we hid in the game caused people to talk about it a lot,” he stated. “Did you get his hidden item? Did you find the secret way to get to this stage? Things like that. I think that’s something that helped the game catch on.”
