Halo Developer Quits to Start New Video Game Studio

Four video game creators from Microsoft and Zipper Interactive have left the companies to form their own studio. The new studio will be called Giant Bite Games and it will be developing games for next-gen consoles and for Microsoft’s Windows Vista, according to co-founder Hamilton Chu.

Although you may not be familiar with their names, you will definitely recognize some of the titles the group has worked on. Chu oversaw the development of both Halo titles for the Xbox. Michael Evans was an engineer on both the titles. Andy Glaister managed the programming team developing gaming tools for Windows Vista. Steve Theodore was the technical art director for Zipper Interactive. Zipper is the creator of the Socom games. Theodore also worked for Valve Software who is the developer of the Half-Life series.

Although all four men enjoyed their previous jobs, they were searching to work on their own projects.

“There comes a time when you want to try it on your own and have both the products and an organization that really fits your vision of how to do things well and how to do things better,” Cho stated.

“If you have a team that can make a great product, you will be a great investment,” he continued. “The question is, ‘Can we make a great game?’”

Well, I suppose we will see if they can.
