Miami-Dade School District Officially Opposes Bully

Miami-Dade School District Officially Opposes Bully

None

Yesterday, we informed you that the Miami-Dade school district was considering a resolution that would have asked local retailers not to carry the game Bully and parents not to buy it. The resolution passed in a lesser form.

The resolution now asks retailers not to sell Bully to minors. They also plan to distribute information to parents “on the potential harmful effects to children of playing interactive video games containing violence.”

Alexander Robel, a student in the school district, compares the resolution to censorship of literature like Catcher in the Rye. “We have never hurt other students. It is no surprise to me that the school board in my very own county would fall into the trap of pointing fingers and assigning blame.”
