Electronic Arts has announced development of The Lord of the Rings Tactics (still a working title), the sequel to The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth. The game will be released for the PC and the PSP.
The game will allow the player to control either the Fellowship or the forces of Shadow. The game will offer upgrades, new items, and skills. It will also let the player have complex tactical maneuvers. It will support WiFi multiplayer for up to four players.
This is the first time EA has been allowed to take the game out of the realm of the movie. The agreement allows the company "to introduce players to depths of the fiction never before explored in an EA game." Players can "step into a world that looks like the films, but experience characters, environments, and battles that have been inspired by the books."
No release date has been set for the game yet, so check back for updates.
