Confirmed Federal Investigation over Hot Coffee

Confirmed Federal Investigation over Hot Coffee

None

We reported yesterday that there were several possible investigations pending after Take-Two’s Hot Coffee fiasco. Indeed, the Federal Trade Comission (FTC) has launched an investigation into the troubled company’s advertising claims. The investigation has begun after a call from Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and an overwhelming vote by the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday.

Take-Two has issued a statement saying that they will comply fully with the investigation and believes that it has acted in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

They also write that they “regret consumers were exposed to content that was not intended to be accessible in the playable version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” (we would be regretting it too if we were under this much heat) and that “going forward, the Company will refine the process by which it edits games and will enhance the protection of its game code to prevent such future modifications” (again, so would we). We will keep you updated as Take-Two’s saga continues.
