2K Games has announced that it will be publishing Ghost Rider, a game based on the Marvel Comic books and upcoming movie. Johnny Blaze is a superstar motorcycle stunt rider who strikes a deal with the evil Mephistopheles for his immortal soul. Blaze must now ride night after night as the supernatural Ghost Rider.

“Ghost Rider is one of the Marvel Comics’ most successful comic book franchises and we’re thrilled to bring this beloved series to a broader audience,” stated Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. “The video game will build upon the popular elements from the Ghost Rider franchise and intertwine its thrilling action and original, compelling content into a gaming experience fans will love.”

“Marvel is excited about the upcoming Ghost Rider video game,” commented Ames Kirshen, Vice President of Interactive at Marvel Entertainment. “2K Games is creating an innovative game that showcases a combination of amazing hand-to-hand combat and motorcycle action intertwined with compelling third person play that offerse gamersa truly unique and diverse gameplay experience.”

The game is scheduled for simultaneous release with the movie in 2007. The movie will feature Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, and Wes Bentley. Specific systems that will feature the game have not been announced yet, but 2K Games has stated that they are creating it for handheld and console systems.
