Video Game Thief Caught

Video Game Thief Caught

None

Video game inspired crime seems to pop up here and there, but before Jack Thompson jumps to any conclusions, we must remind our readers that people will steal for anything sometimes and electronics have always been a hot item with thieves.

Tom McGarry, a high school freshman in Center Moriches High School in New York, reported that he was playing a video game yesterday in his bedroom when his dog started barking. McGarry went to investigate and found an intruder in his kitchen.

“Hey man, you got any video games?” asked the intruder, according to McGarry.

McGarry said he didn’t and the intruder asked again. McGarry told the intruder he had sold all his games. At this point, the intruder fled through the back door.

McGarry proceeded to call his father who notified the Suffolk County Police. It turns out the intruder, Chris Hurcomb, 26, lived three houses away. He is now being charged with the McGarry break-in and three other burglaries. The case McGarry witnessed was the eighth burglary in the neighborhood where video games, consoles, and cash were stolen.
