An eleven-year old boy in Hull, England, admitted to stabbing his crying infant nephew while playing The Incredibles on December 15, 2004.
The boy says he kept dying during the game and the infant’s crying was making him feel like an “erupting volcano”. He stabbed the infant and then went to his mother ten minutes later to report, “I have done something awful. Something really bad has happened to (the baby).”
At the time of the incident, the boy’s sister was gone, his stepfather was asleep, and his mother had gone to a friend’s home.
The trial began Monday. The defense attorney for the child says there is no dispute about what happened, but instead “the extent of the child’s mental intention when he stabbed the baby.”
