Gamers Wary of Battlefield 2142 In-Game Advertising

None

Gamers have been wary to purchase Electronic Arts’ new game Battlefield 2142 after finding out that an adware package must be installed into your computer before you can play the game. This monitoring software will allow EA to present user-specific ads.

Yet, gamers are concerned because EA’s disclaimer states that the company “may record your Internet Protocol address and other anonymous information.” EA has done little to clear the air around the ambiguous statement and gamers are shying away because of it. EA has assured that the software will be used to discover a player’s region and language so they can be presented with appropriate advertising. They have promised not to use the information for other purposes.
