We reported earlier about a new marketing technique by Electronic Arts that allowed gamers to purchase content for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007 on Xbox Live. The endeavor must have proved successful because EA has now announced that gamers can purchase content for The Godfather via Xbox Live.
The buyable “cheat codes” actually seem a little bit like a rip-off to us. For instance, gamers can buy “Level 4 Revolver-Black Widow” for 100 Microsoft Points ($1.25). But this does not buy you the Black Widow. In fact, it allows you to have the option to purchase the Black Widow for $300,000 in-game dollars. In addition to this, EA has tossed in missions that you can purchase for 250 Microsoft Points that will allow you to play content not already available on the game.
