Print news in every genre has felt the effects of booming technology. Finally, the technological advances have brought one video game print magazine to it’s grave.
Official PlayStation Magazine is closing its doors after nine years of providing Sony related content to users across North America.
“The powerful online capabilities of the PlayStation 3, coupled with ever-increasing broadband penetration in the US, allow for much more efficient distribution of game demos, videos, and trailers,” stated Scott McCarthy, President of Ziff Davis Game Group. “With this next generation of game consoles, the days of having to bundle a disc with a magazine to distribute games-related content are over.”
The last issue of the magazine will be in January 2007.
