Nintendo has finally revealed some final numbers for the first week sales of the Wii.
According to Nintendo, 600,000 Wiis were sold in the first eight days of the console’s release in
First-party software and accessory sales accumulated $190 million. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was predictably the strongest seller. 454,000 copies of the game were sold which means around three out of every four Wii owners picked up a copy of the game.
“We’ve shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company was able to deliver for its launch around the same time – and we still sold out,” Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President, commented.
Although the numbers are impressive, we will have to see if Nintendo can keep up excellent sales in the long run.
