Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday Announces Texas Hold-em Upgrade

Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday Announces Texas Hold-em Upgrade

None

Instead of a new game this Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft is offering an update to Texas Hold-em. The company is hoping the new features will “speed up gameplay, eliminate cheating, and ensure proper competition.” The new features include:

  • Players will be able to begin playing right away by posting a big blind when joining a table rather than waiting for the blind to come to them.
  • A new “away” mode will allow players to set their status to away. Hands will be auto-folded and blinds auto-posted until the player returns.
  • An “auto-boot” mode will boot players off the table if they have let the timer expire more than three times in a game.
  • Timers and messaging durations have been adjusted to speed up gameplay among experienced players, but still allow novice players plenty of time to play.
  • Initial blinds, as well as blind increases, are not more proportional to table stakes, ensuring more meaningful increases during gameplay.
  • Players will no longer be matched to games they cannot afford.
  • Interface controls have been improved.
  • A player’s full winnings and rank are now properly displayed on the leaderboard.
  • Game art and spelling issues have also been addressed.
