Boston Bans GTA:VCS and Other M-Rated Game Ads

None

Cheat Code Central reported earlier about a controversy surrounding ads for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories on Boston subway cars.

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) has submitted to political pressure. The company will no long accept advertising for games rated M or AO.

“We are thrilled that the MBTA has been so responsive to community concerns. The children of Boston can now ride the MBTA without being targets for advertising that glorifies violence… (the MBTA decision) sends a strong message to the videogame industry that public property cannot be used to promote violence to children. We hope that other cities will follow suit,” Susan Linn, Co-Founder of the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, commented.
