Gamers may have noticed the increased emphasis game companies are placing on in-game advertising. Games like Battlefield 2142 include a disclaimer that reads:

“By installing and using this software, you agree to: the transfer of advertising data to servers located outside of your country of residence, the collection and use of advertising data, [and] the delivery of advertising and marketing content.”

Disclaimers like this are become more frequent, but California Assemblywoman Lori Saldana has taken notice. She is considering introducing a bill to the state legislature that would stop in-game ads and spyware from being installed onto players’ PCs.
