Another Guitar Hero Lawsuit Appears

None

The battle over Guitar Hero continues. The war began to rage last year when Activision sued Ant Commandos, a third party peripheral developer, for creating a guitar similar to their own. Ant Commandos countersued, stating that Activision had stolen the idea from them in the first place. The two companies settled, but now Activision is suing again.

This time, Activision is upset because some Red Octane employees (the original developers of Guitar Hero) have teamed up with Ant Commandos to create their own studio. The company is now working on a Guitar Hero/ StepMania style game. Activision is suing for copyright infringement, trademark infringement, misappropriating trade secrets and confidential information, breach of contract, interference with contractual relations, and other charges. They have already secured a temporary restraining order against the demo that will remain unless Ant Commandos can prove that the game was developed without employees of Red Octane.

We will keep you posted with any new developments.
