In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly , Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who created Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda, spoke earnestly about some of his ideas and thoughts on the gaming industry. While some of them were mostly ruminations on his part, such as wishing he could “build a game that somehow made the young people respect their elders” and addressing the wrong of “people who don’t pay any taxes”, he also discussed why he doesn’t create a game like Halo.
“I could make Halo,” Miyamoto states. “It’s not that I couldn’t design that game. It’s just that I choose not to. One thing about my game design is that I never try to look for what people want and then try to make that game design. I always try to create new experiences that are fun to play,”
