Xbox Wii-60?

Xbox Wii-60?

None

While speaking recently, Bill Gates hinted at the future of the Xbox franchise, suggesting that a motion-sensing device, similar to the Wii, was a possibility for the future.  However, he went further to state that what he was envisioning was not the same as what Nintendo has already done.

Bill Gates first asked the audience to imagine “a game machine where you just can pick up the bat and swing it or the tennis racket and swing it.”  When compared to the Wii, Gates replied, “No, that’s not it. You can’t pick up your tennis racket… And swing it. You can’t sit there with your friends and do those natural things.”

In explaining the difference between the Wii and his vision, Gates said, “That’s a 3D positional device. This is video recognition. This is a camera seeing what’s going on.”

Although Gates didn’t say anything specific, it sounds as if Microsoft could be planning to implement a version of the motion sensing controls in the future.  We’ll keep you posted as news becomes available.
