Manhunt 2 for the Wii coming under fire?

Manhunt 2 for the Wii coming under fire?

None

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum (R) has set his sights on Manhunt 2 for the Wii.  Apparently, he’s concerned that the Wii’s motion sensing controls, which are anticipated to include slashing, stabbing, clubbing, or choking motions, might “instill violence in children, particularly games that encourage children to engage in violent behavior, even in simulation.”

McCollum has been interviewed by Fox News reporter Orlando Salinas and the interview, which hasn’t been aired yet and has been pushed back to release closer to Manhunt 2’s July 9th release date.  Salinas also interview Florida Attorney Jack Thompson, who has brought the game to the attention of McCollum and Florida Governor Charlie Crist (R) in an email sent May 12th.  As of now, Gov. Crist’s position on Manhunt 2 is unknown.

Oddly enough, McCollum has apparently ignored the PS2 and PSP versions of Manhunt 2, focusing exclusively on the Wii version and its motion sensing controls.

We’ll keep you posted on news as it becomes available.
