There are more game systems that play high-def movies than standalone movie players according to sales numbers from recent reports.

While there are approximately 100,000 standalone HD-DVD players, a Microsoft representative stated that the company has sold 155,000 units of the HD-DVD add on.  The difference is even more pronounced in the realm of the Blu-ray, in which the over a million PS3s sold eclipse the less than 100,000 standalone Blu-ray players in circulation.
