All-Pro Football 2K8 creates controversy with OJ, knife

Take-Two is at the center of another controversy, but from a surprising source.  This controversy is caused by their recently released football game, All-Pro Football 2K8.

Apparently some people have taken issue with OJ Simpson’s placement in the game as well as the possibility of him being on the fictional The Assassins Team.  The mascot for The Assassins, a hooded man with a knife, makes stabbing motions at various points of celebration.  If used in conjunction with OJ Simpson it becomes potentially offensive.

OJ Simpson was accused and acquitted of the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown and her friend, Ron Goldman.  The murders occurred in 1994, and Simpson was acquitted of the charges the following year.

The stabbing motion for The Assassins Team is something that is for the team and is not specific to Simpson, and “the game does not promote any such connection.”

Simpson does not come attached to The Assassins, but can be added to their roster by the player to create a custom team.
