Bioshock Causing Problems With Widescreens

Bioshock Causing Problems With Widescreens

None

Bioshock, the innovative FPS title considered a step towards the holiday deluge of games, is apparently causing problems for gamers that use a widescreen TV.  According to assorted complaints from gamers who picked up their copies today, the widescreen image in Bioshock is produced by lopping off the top and bottom of the fullscreen image, which keeps gamers from seeing essential parts of their HUD.

The frustration is apparently compounded because of a statement made earlier in the game’s forums by Lead Programmer Chris Kline.  “You will see more in widescreen. We use a different projection matrix; there is no squashing or stretching of the image involved.” Kline apparently said.

2K is apparently looking into the issue.
