Nintendo Denies Metroid Dread Rumors

Nintendo Denies Metroid Dread Rumors

None

Despite the hidden message in Metroid Prime 3, Nintendo and Retro Studios deny that the 2D Metroid Dread is still in the works.

As reported earlier, a message can be found in Metroid Prime 3 that states “Experiment status report update: Metroid project ‘Dread’ is nearing the final stages of completion.” This led many to believe that the cancelled 2D Metroid Dread for the DS was still being worked on and nearing completion, but Nintendo flatly debunked that rumor.

“Nintendo is not making the 2D Metroid at this point in time,” A Nintendo rep stated.

So was the in-game message a joke, a tease, or a hint to a ‘Dread’ project that isn’t 2D?  Only time will tell, but we’ll keep you posted as news becomes available.
