Microsoft Bans 23,000 COD4 Beta Exploiters

None

Microsoft has issued 24 hour Xbox Live bans to 23,000 gamers that exploited a glitch giving illegal access to the Call of Duty 4 beta.

The glitch allowed those gamers in possession of a beta key to download the beta onto other consoles, giving multiple consoles access to the COD4 beta.  Microsoft has reported that the glitch has been treated and is no longer exploitable and those gamers that took advantage of it are banned from Xbox Live for 24 hrs.

“The current POR is to issue a 24-hour console lockout that will prevent these 23k users from using their consoles to sign in to LIVE. These users will also receive a message in the dash with an explanation as to why their console has been locked out for 24 hours for violating the LIVE [Terms of Use] and a warning that more severe actions may be taken if they attempt a similar action in the future (console could be banned permanently, etc.),” Microsoft revealed in a statement.
