Grade-Conscious GameStop Manager Suspended

Grade-Conscious GameStop Manager Suspended

None

Last week, Dallas/Fort Worth’s WFAA has a story about a GameStop manager that refused to sell games to two dozen children that didn’t have a parent attest to their academic achievements.

Dallas-area GameStop manager Brandon Scott reported last week that he wouldn’t sell games to any children that weren’t getting good grades in school. “He needs to be reading a book. He knows how to play Madden before he knows how to do his ABCs and 123s – that’s backwards!” said Scott.

“I’m probably going to get in trouble for this, but to me it’s worth it, because the kids understand that somebody cares,” said Scott.

On Friday, WFAA reported that GameStop’s corporate offices had suspended Scott, although it isn’t known whether he was suspended for his practice of requiring good grades for sales or whether it was talking to the media.

GameStop has stated that they are “evaluating Mr. Scott’s concept,” although it is unlikely that we will see them turning away academically inferior customers anytime in the future.
