Game Rumors:

Selling the CELL:

With Sony feeling the hurt, they might be looking to offshoot one of their most costly factories, the CELL factory. This could mean several different things if they do it. They could ease some of the financial problems they have had due to the poor performance of the PS3 has had and pocket the money they might save. Alternatively, they could start filtering some of the cash flow to the consumers and lower the price of the PS3. Unfortunately, Kaz Hirai stated at TGS that there were no surprises coming for the PS3 as far as the price before the holiday season.

Verdict: Needing money to make it easier to make PS3s

C&C FPS :

EA website seems to be hinting at the possibility of a new Command & Conquer FPS. This could be a completely new shot in the arm for the series. A job posting on the site reads:

“Does the idea of contributing your specialized knowledge in sound design to the next-generation gaming platform for EAs widely recognized leading sci-fi franchise get you pumped? EA has an exciting opportunity for a sound designer who will work closely with the audio director on creating sound effects, dialog, and music for a next-generation first person shooter game.”

While there was no specific mention of the C & C series, the combination of the term ‘leading sci-fi series’ with EA LA hints at the Command and Conquer franchise. We will keep you posted.

Verdict: Confusingly good

No H.AM.M.E.R. Time:

The game that seemed like it would be a lot of fun for the Nintendo Wii appears to be dead. While Nintendo won’t come out and say it, sources seem to lean more to the game being pulled off the schedule without foreseeable plans to continue work on it. In an E3 interview with Advance Media Network, Nintendo of America Senior Director of PR Beth Llewellyn faced off against some questions concerning the game:

AMN: So is Project H.A.M.M.E.R. canceled?

Llewellyn: Development resources have been shifted for the time being, but it may come back. But right now, it’s not a focus of ours.

AMN: So it’s not currently in development? Is it on pause?

Llewellyn: Uh… probably… yeah. Again, we shifted our focus. Some games have shifted development resources.

Unfortunately this is more confusing than asking EA if they plan on making a new C&C FPS.

Verdict: Ending on a confusing note
