A BAFTA fellowship is the highest honor bestowable by the academy. Will Wright will be one of the first to receive a fellowship in the field of gaming, as most of the fellowships have previously been offered to individuals in the field of television or film, “with Wright’s award recognising both the massive impact of gaming on popular culture and its contribution to the whole art form of the moving image”.
Hilary Jones, who is Chairman of the Academy said “Will’s immense, creative body of work and his continued contribution to the industry make him a most worthy recipient of the Fellowship and being such a pioneer, we are thrilled that he will be the first person to receive this honour”.
