PS3 Firmware Update To Boost Blu-ray Interactivity

PS3 Firmware Update To Boost Blu-ray Interactivity

None

Although details haven’t been fully disclosed, Sony says that they plan to release a firmware update that will increase Blu-ray interactivity.  This assurance comes from Sony Vice President of advanced technologies Don Eklund, who cryptically assured all present that the firmware update was coming “soon”.

More then likely, the update will give the PlayStation 3 some of the features of Prolife 1.1, which includes features not supported by current Blu-ray players like true video picture in a picture playback.

The Blu-ray Disc Association has mandated that all players released after October 31 have Profile 1.1, and Sony’s update is likely an attempt to integrate some of the missing features into the PlayStation 3.
