Xbox 360 Outsells Wii

Xbox 360 Outsells Wii

None

The September sales figures have come in, and with the added influence of the release of Halo 3,  Microsoft’s Xbox 360 outsold the Wii.  Microsoft sold over 528,000 units in North America during September while the Wii moved 501,000 units.

The release of Halo 3 has been attributed in the shift in numbers, especially since the Wii has been consistently outselling both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 since its release.

In the Japanese market, the Xbox 360 isn’t selling quite as well, with 122,565 units sold through the first half of 2007, which is far behind the 503,554 PS3s and 1.78 million Wiis sold.  To combat the recent PS3 price cut and increase sales, Microsoft has revealed plans to cut the Xbox 360’s price to 34,800 yen ($149) beginning November 1, which would give Japanese consumers a price break of 13%.
