According to website mcvuk.com , Sony is currently planning on revamping the PlayStation 2 to create a “compact” edition which will be available in early 2008 for the new price of $99, which is $30 less than the current price.
Sony has yet to deny or confirm this rumor, but gamers have been expecting a new price drop for the PS2 since the debut of the PlayStation 3 and the recent price cuts to the latter system.
The newer model is supposed to have a built in power supply, which will allow Sony to manufacture is more efficiently and economically.
