Elder Scrolls MMO In The Works?

Elder Scrolls MMO In The Works?

None

Bethesda, the company behind the popular open world RPG series The Elder Scrolls, recently registered the URL elderscrollsonline.com, fueling speculation that the company is working on an Elder Scrolls MMO.

Bethesda’s Peter Hines denies the rumor, stating that they are grabbling URLs to prevent squatters from getting them first.  “We are tired of people squatting on domains related to our games or simply not being able to get them if we needed them and decided a while back we’d get these to keep it from happening again. People are grabbing domains like these and trying to extract money from us for them, or using them for some other purpose.” In the past, squatters have grabbed domain names like oblivion.com before the developers could purchase them.

Despite Hines’s denial, the fact that Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax, has stated that it will use funds from Providence Equity Partners to finance “future growth, increased game development and publishing, facilitation of acquisitions, and financing of massively multiplayer online games,” has added to the speculation of an Elders Scrolls MMO.
