Last week, Take2 Interactive chairman Strauss Zelnick worried gamers everywhere with a statement that Take2 wasn’t prepared to offer a definite release date for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV. Speculation began that GTA IV might be pushed back even further than the promised early 2008, especially on the heels of another Metal Gear Solid 4 delay . However, Zelnick clarified his statement and quelled rumors of a further delay.
“I wasn’t intending to be newsworthy,” Zelnick stated. “When asked about the release date, I confirmed the previous release date we’d given, which is our second fiscal quarter. That’s to say sometime between the beginning of February and the end of April.”
His clarification should relieve gamers, although gamers were assured earlier this year that GTA IV would meet its October release date before unrevealed circumstances pushed the game’s release to its current 2008 release date.
