Sony Promises Innovation to PSN

Sony Promises Innovation to PSN

None

Sony Chief Executive Howard Stringer has promised that innovation will be the focus of the future for the PSN.

During a press conference Tuesday, Stringer stated that the company’s “next cycle is actual innovation” although he declined to give specific details.  Of interest, however, is his promise that the PSN would expand to offer new types of content.

While much of the press conference was understandably devoted to Sony’s other products, Stringer did discuss the increased sales of the PlayStation 3, spurred by the recent price cut as well as the shortages of Nintendo’s popular Wii.  According to Stringer, 200,000 PS3 machines were selling in Europe weekly, while 40,000 to 50,000 PS3s were selling a week in Japan.
