While gamers are divided on whether Assassin’s Creed is a hit or miss, sales figures for the game indicate that the former is true.  Ubisoft has revealed that their latest IP has sold 2.5 million units globally, becoming the fastest selling original IP in gaming history and “greatly outstripp[ing]” Ubisoft’s expectations.  Sales figures for the game are so impressive that Ubisoft has revised its projections upwards, expecting to sell 5 million copies of Assassin’s Creed before the close of their fiscal year in March and raising their fiscal expectations by 12 percent.

Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft, commented on the game’s success.  “With the exceptional performance of Assassin’s Creed , the fastest-selling new video game intellectual property in the U.S. ever, Ubisoft’s teams have once again demonstrated their expertise in creating and promoting major brands.”
