Wii Shortages May Cost Nintendo $1 Billion

Wii Shortages May Cost Nintendo $1 Billion

None

According to various industry analysts, the current drought of Nintendo Wiis may be costing Nintendo a lot of money, specifically over $1 Billion dollars this holiday season.

Senior analyst for MDB Capital Group James Lin says that Nintendo stands to lose out on over a billion dollars in both hardware sales and the potential software sales that would follow because consumers simply can’t find a Wii.  Lin actually believes that Nintendo could “easily sell double what they’re selling” if they had the available Wiis.

Nintendo has admitted the shortage of Wiis and has even stopped advertising the product because of the dearth.  Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing George Harrison acknowledged the danger of the shortage, stating that “[we] do worry about not satisfying consumers and that they will drift to a competitor’s system.”
