Wii the New Home of the Master System and Other Sega Favorites

Nintendo’s Virtual Console just keeps getting stronger. The gaming giant’s next generation console is demonstrating that it has a lot more to offer gamers than motion controls. The aging 8-bit Sega Master System, Mark III, and Game Gear titles have found their way onto the Nintendo Wii.

In a bid to capture older hardcore gamers, Nintendo is cornering the classic games market. All of the talk up until now has been how Nintendo will focus on the non-gamer. However, like a ninja, Nintendo has been making solid in-roads and forays into the snooty gaming core with their lock on the console games of yester-year.

According to IGN, the rest of the Sega library will find their way onto Japanese Virtual Consoles in February while the U.S. and European markets will have to wait an unconfirmed bit longer.
