According to Engadget and G4, it is rumored that Netflix will not only be targeting the Macintosh platform for streaming video, but they may also try and enter your home through your gaming console. That would certainly turn the format wars as well as the HD rental service via LIVE on their heads. It’s hard to believe that a service that only charges $8.99 for streaming movies could strike a deal with Microsoft. Especially considering that there is an established and thriving rental service via Xbox LIVE. It is very plausible however, that Sony would entertain a proposal to bring a competing rental service to their ailing, super-powered console. Such a relationship would certainly be mutually beneficial in the years to come if the PlayStation 3 establishes itself as the premier hardware set. |
