Nokia Dusting off the N-Gage

Nokia Dusting off the N-Gage

Nokia, the Finnish mobile phone maker, will be re-releasing the N-Gage. The failed mobile gaming platform that was also a cell phone never was able to compete with the likes of the Nintendo GBA. The phone’s clunky design, poor controls, and “Taco Talk” made it very unappealing to gamers.

The new N-Gage is actually a software platform. It will work with a whole series of Nokia phones. This is a much better idea as it will allow consumers to choose which phone is most appropriate for their lifestyles and budgets. Being roped into buying a nerd phone was never a good idea.

According to Tech.tm, the N-Gage platform will only be compatible with the N81 model to start. However, multiple phones will be compatible in the future in what will be known as the N-series. EA, Gameloft, and Vivendi are confirmed to develop games for the resurrected platform.
