Apple to Enter Gaming Fray?

Apple to Enter Gaming Fray?

None

It has been rumored that Apple would one day try their hand at the gaming market.  According to the folks at Trademork.com, there is a trademark filing that may back up those wild assertions.

On February 5, 2008 Apple Inc. filed to protect their Apple trademark concerning “ hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games ”.

We’ll see what products actually come from this.  There may simply be software development to retro-fit the iPhone or iPod Touch to be more gamer-friendly.  However, according to an article by AppleInsider, Apple Inc. is in talks with Intel in order to create a series of chipsets that will be ultra mobile.  Whether these chips will be applied to even smaller MacBook Air laptops or to an “iGame” handheld system is still a mystery.

In any case, look for Apple to try and revolutionize handheld gaming and Nintendo to fire back with something amazing.
