Splatterhouse to Get Current Generation Console Release

None

If you love horror video game titles then you’ve undoubtedly played 1991’s Splatterhouse for the TurboGrafx-16.  What…you never owned that console?  Well, then you’ll be happy to know that it is available on the Virtual Console.

For those of you who have played it, you’ll be even happier to know that the survival horror series is getting a current generation release.  This all comes from the June edition of EGM magazine which is due out in the next several days.

The original Splatterhouse is a sidescroller that has players take on the role of Rick, a psychology student that finds himself trapped in Dr. West’s mansion after seeking shelter from the rain with his girlfriend Jennifer inside the “Splatterhouse”.  Jennifer is subsequently kidnapped and Rick is brought back from the Abyss by the powerful Mayan death mask known as the “Terror Mask”.  You’ll have to take on hordes of gruesome baddies in a grisly adventure to save your lost love.

This is a pretty simplistic story from another gaming era, we will see how well it translates into a modern survival horror title.
