Ameri-Game Idol?*

Ameri-Game Idol?*

None

Have you got what it takes to game your way to a million dollars? Are you prepared to have your gaming skills tested to the max in front of millions of  TV viewers? If you answered yes, then get ready for the game of all games.

Coming this Fall, from the creators of American Idol, comes a TV show that sets out to find the best gamers in the land and make him or her an instant millionaire. Ameri-Game Idol is similar in structure to American Idol in that auditions will be held throughout the country, but this show is going to be open to gamers of all ages. You might find yourself competing against a five-year old, or playing a co-op mode with a Golden Ager.

Contestants will audition in front of a panel of judges that will include popular game reviewers from sites such as Cheat Code Central, a developer from Rockstar, and a foul-mouthed, miserable Englishman that will hurl insults at spastic gamers. Only those that display the most potential will earn a ticket to Hollywood where they will be engaged in the game of their life.

The contestants will be put through an obstacle course of gaming tests. A variety of genres will be presented throughout the series to test the players’ diversity. Just because you’re quick with the reflexes doesn’t mean you can solve a 3D puzzle. Players will have to be great in all areas, as they will be tested on time trials, high score, most creative use of moves, dexterity, teamwork, and the ability to adapt quickly to new situations. Single-player, verses, head-to-head, multi-player, co-op, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch modes will test competitors’ range of skills in sports, racing, shooting, RTS, empire building, beat-’em-up, hack and slash, RPGs, horror survival, point and click, puzzles, and platforming.

Contestants will have to be proficient on a variety of gaming systems as well including PCs, laptops, handhelds, consoles, actual arcade systems, and classics such as Atari, Famcom, and the Magnavox Odyssey. Brand new prototype games will be introduced by developers. Players will have to learn them on the fly.

Contestants will be mercilessly tossed from the show at the slightest indication of ineptness. Utilizing a specially developed shock feedback controller, a non-lethal but very powerful electric current will literally blast bad players across the stage toward the  theater’s exit. Not only will they continue to be ridiculed on the way out by the nasty Englishman, but the remaining contestants will earn points by pelting the loser with hot, greasy, pizza pockets.

“We don’t want to just hurt contestants,” says show producer Simon Fulloself, “We want to really hurt them. Physically and emotionally. The stakes are high, a million dollars. Keep in mind that the feedback shock is set an incredibly high voltage. It won’t kill, but it will freak them out. I tried it and I’m still shaking. That was a week ago. Also, losers will be embarrassed like hell. Not only will they get insulted for their weak skills, but we’re encouraging the judges to make fun of their personal appearances as well. That will make it especially tough for some of these kids to go back home and face their friends who are obviously going to continue the taunting. Yes, this is going to be a lot of fun,” Fulloself adds.

Those interested in auditioning are asked to visit the Ameri-Game Idol website. A non-refundable entry fee of $14,000 is required just to schedule an audition.
