Nintendo to Pay $21 Million in Patent Dispute

None

According to CNN Money, Nintendo was found guilty of infringing upon analog, remote control patents originally filed by Anascape Ltd. According to the original suit filing from 2006, Nintendo’s Wii Classic controller, GameCube controller, and Wavebird controller violated several of the company’s patents.

Also, Microsoft Corp. was named in the suit, but both companies settled out of court before the Nintendo case went on trial. Damages awarded to Anascape Ltd. by the federal jury totaled $21 million. Charlie Scibetta, a spokesman for Nintendo, stated that the Big N would appeal the finding and expects the awarded damages to be significantly reduced.
