Wada's Cracking the Whip at Square Enix?

Wada's Cracking the Whip at Square Enix?

None

Last week we brought you a bunch of news concerning a restructuring of Square Enix. The company’s president, Yoichi Wada, is looking to make the company more profitable through acquisitions and partnerships. According to a rumor started at Kotaku, Mr. Wada’s tactics aren’t stopping there.

In fact, “word has it that a fierce meeting was held over a month ago where the Square Enix honcho threatened to start axing employees.” Supposedly, Wada feels that his developers have been making games that no one but themselves wants to play. The president knows that in order for Square Enix to be more competitive abroad they need to produce games that are far more engaging to the majority of Western gamers.

Certainly everyone would enjoy more unique IPs from Square Enix. It does seem as if the company has settled for remaking and re-releasing titles from the usual suspects. As long as Square Enix remembers who they brought to the dance, adding a few new moves to their repertoire should serve them well.
