Wii Gets Photo Printing Service in Japan

Wii Gets Photo Printing Service in Japan

None

In an attempt to further accentuate the Wii’s capabilities and make it a more useful centerpiece of everyday life, Nintendo has added a new Channel for Japanese Wii consumers. The Wii Digital Camera Print Channel will let users print pictures, have them delivered to their homes, make high-quality photo albums, and even Nintendo-based “business” cards.

Simply, Wii owners will be able to select digital pictures they have uploaded to the Wii via an SD card, have them printed by Fujifilm, and then delivered for 30 yen (± .30¢) per print plus shipping costs ranging from 300 to 500 yen (± $3-$5) depending on the speed of delivery. Furthermore, consumers can even get more elaborate by creating a Wii Photo Book. This high-quality photo album comes in various sizes and costs from 1,575 yen to 2,480 yen (± $15-$25).

Finally, it will also be possible to print off personal information cards (business cards) with the service. There are six templates to choose from, all of which feature Nintendo favorites, and consumers can add their photo, Mii, and important information including address, phone number, email, and even their Wii’s friend code. The little cards cost 500 yen (± $5) for a total of 30 cards.

Nintendo will roll this out in other regions in the coming months.
