The Week in Review news piece summarizes and highlights the most important gaming related news over the past week. This weekly article, in conjunction with the Rumor Round-Up, will keep you plugged in and in-tune.

Electronic Arts announced this week that it has officially taken back its offer to purchase Take-Two Interactive. The EA/Take-Two saga has been going on for the last six months, as Take-Two shareholders “repeatedly rejected” EA’s “conditional and unsolicited bid.” Supposedly, Take-Two is in talks with other companies, and EA may even shift its focus to Ubisoft.

Microsoft announced that GTA IV’s Xbox 360 exclusive, downloadable content will be available for download before the holidays. Pricing, file size, amount of content, and the exact date are still a mystery. In fact, Rockstar has not confirmed any release date.

Activision confirmed that Infinity Ward will be charged with the development of Call of Duty 6 for 2009. This comes as no surprise, as Activision had already stated its intent to switch development responsibilities between Treyarch and Infinity Ward in order to release COD on an annual basis. The confirmation is comforting, nonetheless.

Funcom announced that Craig Morrison has been appointed as the new Producer and Game Director for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. Craig Morrison served as the Producer and Game Director on Anarchy Online for several years, as well as working as the Funcom Community Manager prior to that. Funcom believes he is the perfect candidate to take Age of Conan to the next level. Mr. Morrison will replace former Producer and Game Director Gaute Godager.

Sony Computer Entertainment released Life with PlayStation for the PS3 on September 18, 2008, worldwide simultaneously. Life with PlayStation is a new lifestyle service that offers users a new visual and interactive way to use their PS3 to access news and information from around the world, only possible on the PS3’s feature-rich platform.

Mirror’s Edge, being developed by EA DICE, is set to release for the PS3 and 360 on November 11. Unfortunately, the PC version of the title won’t release until winter of 2009.

Ubisoft announced that Prince of Persia for Sony PS3, Microsoft 360, and PC will release to the public on December 2, 2008. The early December release will coincide with that of Prince of Persia: The Fallen King for Nintendo DS.

Finally, Little Big Planet will be available for purchase on October 21st. Additionally, to commemorate the release of LBP, during the first week only, players will be given access to a free, limited edition spacesuit for Sackboy. Also, diehards who want to distinguish themselves can purchase “a rare ‘I was there Week One’ T-Shirt” for Sackboy.

Thanks so much everyone and we will see you next week!
