David Cage “Unhappy With Everything” Regarding Heavy Rain

Quantic Dream founder David Cage has stressed the developers weren’t satisfied at all with Heavy Rain.

“We were pretty much unhappy with everything. We thought we could have done a better job in all areas, and have better rendering, and better visuals, and better gameplay, and better everything,” he stated to Gamasutra.

“This is definitely things we took into account designing the new technology, wanting to work with performance capture,” continued Cage. “And we wanted a better blend of storytelling and interactivity. We thought that sometimes in Heavy Rain there were moments where the balance wasn’t exactly right. We are working on new ways of merging this in a more natural and fluid way.

Cage did, however, note that the commercial performance of the PlayStation 3 exclusive: “I think it performed better than anyone’s expectations, including ours, to be honest.” That said, the developer has previously revealed they lost €10 million from second-hand Heavy Rain sales.

As for Quantic Dream’s next project, it’s been suggested that Cage will announce his new project at Sony’s E3 conference, which takes place on Monday at 6 PM (PST).
